I’m Jayne, the founder of Dynamic Representations and School Improvement Director for Mathematics at Tove Learning Trust. I’ve worked in senior and middle leadership for over twenty years across Milton Keynes and the West Midlands, with a focus on raising attainment and improving the quality of maths education.
I’ve spent more than a decade working with the NCETM on research-informed curriculum and lesson design, including ten years as a Teaching for Mastery Specialist. In April 2025, I received a Let Teachers Shine Grant to develop Dynamic Representations—a digital platform that brings maths concepts to life through interactive tools and carefully crafted sequences of models, questions and assessment.
I’m passionate about helping all learners build deep, connected understanding in mathematics, and I believe that through collaboration and great teaching we can create inspiring learning experiences for every student.

Following a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering and an MSc in Air Transport Management, I spent 10 years working in the Aviation Industry, using data to run large scale simulations on how passengers move around the airport terminal and designing any necessary expansion plans to accommodate for future forecasted passenger growth.
In 2013 I retrained as a secondary maths teacher, working in the North-West of England, as well as North Wales. I held the position of whole school numeracy lead for several years before beginning my self-funded PhD into how maths manipulatives can help reduce maths anxiety as well as develop deeper understandings of the concepts being taught and am now a Lead Practitioner at an all through school, supporting teachers to develop their own confidence at using visual representions in maths lessons.
I have co-authored various different key stage 3 and 4 curriculum resource documents, such as the Loughborough University Mathematics Education Network (LUMEN) curriculum and worked with a large Multi Academy Trust to develop an intervention programme on ratio tables in GCSE maths. I have worked with several different Maths Hubs, leading work groups on developing mastery techniques in the classroom and have an NPQ in leading teaching.
How it all started
Over lockdown I became frustrated that I could not teach effectively online. I missed my manipulatives and white board. I relied on existing online tools to model with manipulatives but they did not allow me to show multiple representations or worked solutions simultaneously. Out of frustration and too much time on my hands I started to create my own tools on Desmos. Colleagues liked these tools and so I continued to develop and share them.
I started to work with Caroline as a trial school for her PHD research into the use of manipulatives and their impact on maths anxiety. It was Caroline who had the drive and vision to apply for a Let Teachers Shine grant. With their fantastic support and funding we have turned our passion into a website that we hope will help teachers to rediscover their joy and passion in teaching maths.
Grant funding
We fund promising innovations to address educational challenges. We use grant funding to unlock potential among teachers who otherwise struggle to find the time to develop new practice or to share their ideas. More than half of SHINE funds support teachers’ time directly, with technology, resources and evaluation costs being the key other cost items. We specialise in backing early-stage ideas, and we help support the most promising programmes on a journey to scale. We also nurture collaborations between schools which enable them to tackle shared challenges and address local barriers to attainment.
